Dedicated to my cats, and especially to Athenea, who died in 2025, Gattesca: A Suite with Nine Lives attempts to capture a musical mood related to each cat or musically express what I feel when I think of them. The pieces are not programmatic, and apart from a few small onomatopoeic fragments, there is no extramusical material. The suite can be performed in full or just a selection of movements.
Notes:
This work was premiered in 2025 by renowned pianist Po Sim Head at the Musicantes festival, but I have not yet received the recording. Therefore, I've included a digital recreation here.
